NYC Pied-A Terre
A small and cramped 2 bedroom is renovated to open up living space and add brightness to a Hampton couple's midtown pied-a-terre in Murray Hill, NYC.
By removing the tub and adding reflective mosaic metallic tiles to the floor, light bounces from above and below making a small bathroom feel bright and airy.
To create a larger living space, we removed the bedroom wall to create a formal living room and open space format with a dining area that doubles as the couple's work space. Custom wood slab table and chairs at cocktail height define the area. Simple track lighting was added to illuminate and reflect the shape of the L space. Color and texture were added in strategic surface areas to reflect light, add drama and create a sense of calm.
A pop of Dunn Edwards' Rare Turquoise wraps around the entry wall highlighted with a gold framed mirror and inlay wood accent table. Rabbit and Roar from West Elm pleated velvet swivel chair and shag white rug brighten the entire room. A custom dining/work table at bar height help create depths and define each space.
