Step 1: Consultation

Every project starts with a consultation so we can learn all about you, your needs, and your goals, in order to create the space of your dreams. We’ll come to your home to gather photos, measurements, and information to estimate your project's needs. Next, we’ll conduct a series of interviews to get to know your preferences to help us hone in on your design concepts. These interviews are tailored to your specific needs but we generally cover things like

  • Overall functional needs

  • Aesthetic preferences

  • Budget and timeline

  • Likes and dislikes

  • Lifestyle routine

Once we have started putting together a picture of your project we’ll create an overall budget for you to approve before moving forward.

This stage is crucial for creating a design concept that reflects your personality and ensures that it’s realistic to execute. You can trust that we’ll keep your needs and best interest in mind throughout the process.

Step 2:  Evaluation & Planning

Once we have a better understanding of the scope of your project we’ll begin planning the details. Again the specifics will be adjusted to your project needs but this stage typically includes

  • Space planning

  • Room layouts

  • Proposed structural design

  • Custom design solutions

  • Drafting and construction documentation

This stage is vital to any project. Things like space planning and layouts may seem standard, but they’re integral to the function, accessibility, and comfort of your home. When done correctly, you may not even notice them, but when done wrong, it’s a major headache.

We plan each detail carefully to ensure that everything is ready for construction and that your project is successful.

Step 3: Design

The design phase is collaborative and exciting! This is where we take everything we’ve learned from our consultation and planning phases to create a design that meets your aesthetic and functional goals. This stage usually includes

  • Design research

  • Development of overall home and room concepts

  • Cabinetry and millwork selections

  • Surface and appliance recommendations

  • Fixture and equipment options

  • Furnishings, textiles, and other materials selections

During this stage, we present our ideas and get your feedback. We share the design inspiration, color palettes, and product specifications to guide the design direction. We use a combination of online inspiration boards, in-person presentations, slide decks, and product samples to give you a clear idea of the design proposals. Through this process, we hone in on your design aesthetic and what matters to you.

You’ll receive a link to our project management system. There, you’ll be able to approve or decline products we’ve specified for you. At this time, we can also make adjustments to item specifications. Perhaps you love an accent chair we’ve selected, but not the color or material. That’s something we can tweak. We’ll continually update your proposals and working budget so there are no cost surprises.

This phase will culminate in our in-person design reviews that include samples and vignettes to finalize your design. This is when your new home will start to come into focus.

Step 4: Implementation & Installation

When the designs have been approved, you’ll receive an invoice that you can easily pay via card, cash, check, or e-payment. Once payment is made, we’ll then order the furniture and materials.

Based on the shipping and delivery timelines we’ll also arrange construction, installation, and other services as needed. We liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and installers to execute your design plans and make your new home come to life. We have a reliable network of professionals we often use for our projects or are happy to work with any of your trusted resources.

We’ll swiftly address any onsite challenges that arise alleviating your stress levels and making the whole process as seamless as possible.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

Once the major work is completed, the last step is to take care of the final touches that make your house feel polished and complete. After all, it’s the thoughtful details that make a house a home. This phase includes

  • Styling decor and accessories

  • Photoshoot

  • Project wrap-up meeting

  • Final paperwork and invoices

Last but not least, is the big reveal so you can see the final result and enjoy your new home!
